PRESENTED BY REBECCA'S DREAM
Join us on May 21, at noon for an introspective exploration of the power of storytelling.
Stories create opportunities to debate, question, inspire, wonder, and connect. Meta-Stories is a collection of 18 allegories reflecting life experiences, challenges, and human resilience, featuring characters that include humans, animals, and elements of nature.
We invite you to an engaging discussion with Dr. Joe Novak, clinical psychologist and author of Meta-Stories and Kathleen Illes, Executive Director of Rebecca’s Dream. Together, we'll explore the role of storytelling in expressing ourselves, sharing experiences, and taking better care of our emotional well-being. Storytelling connects us — through themes of culture, perseverance, and the shared experiences of human life. Discover how stories help us recognize resilience and reclaim a sense of control in our daily lives.
About Dr. Joe Novak
Dr. Joe Novak is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Illinois, with 35 years of experience working in hospital systems, outpatient private practice, and as a consultant to industries. He has spent his adult life working with children, adolescents, adults and families affected by mental health challenges. This is his first journey into writing a book. Meta-Stories began as a few metaphor stories 20-plus summers ago, when he was overseeing a hospital-based summer program for children and teens. The manuscript for this book was cultivated by JJ Novak over the course of his spare time, when not helping others under his care and supervision.
