The North Suburban YMCA Social Responsibility Committee (SRC) is a group of passionate individuals and NSYMCA Staff dedicated to helping, improving and closing the gap with the meets and needs of our communities. The SRC believes that if we work together then we can improve the quality of life for those in our communities.
The SRC focuses but not limited to the following:
- Veterans and military service members
- Seniors
- Low-income families
- Battered Women
- Children battling illnesses
- Domestic animals
- Literacy
- The environment
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Sustainability through Clothing Drives and Food drives
- and more
Since launching the Strong Communities Initiative, the North Suburban YMCA has demonstrated a remarkable impact in social responsibility through its unwavering commitment to addressing pressing community needs and fostering a culture of compassion and giving back. By organizing events such as the Community Giveback - Fleece for Fur Babies, where volunteers donate essential animal supplies and craft handmade blankets for sheltered animals, the NSYMCA not only directly supports local animal shelters but also cultivates a sense of empathy and altruism among participants of all ages. Moreover, our emphasis on inclusivity and diversity ensures that marginalized populations have access to vital resources and opportunities, promoting equity and social justice within the community. Through partnerships with local businesses and organizations, the NSYMCA amplifies its impact, mobilizing collective action to tackle complex social challenges. By instilling values of kindness, volunteerism, and civic engagement, the NSYMCA inspires individuals to become agents of positive change, creating a ripple effect that strengthens the fabric of the community and fosters a more compassionate and equitable society.
