SRC Committee

Since its inception, the Social Responsibility Committee at the North Suburban YMCA has achieved remarkable milestones and made meaningful contributions to the 15 communities we serve. Through thoughtful planning and collaborative engagement, the committee has led numerous initiatives that address key social issues and promote lasting, positive change.

From organizing volunteer-driven events like Fleece for Fur Babies—which mobilizes community members to support local animal shelters—to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion through cultural competency programs and training sessions, the committee consistently champions causes that foster a more compassionate and equitable society.

Strategic partnerships with local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and generous sponsors have further amplified the committee’s efforts, enabling greater reach and deeper impact. These alliances have helped address urgent community needs while reinforcing the YMCA’s mission to serve as a unifying, supportive presence in people’s lives.

Through its dedication, innovation, and leadership, the Social Responsibility Committee continues to play a pivotal role in building a stronger, more connected community—one where every individual is empowered to contribute to the common good.
