SmartLab Media Instructor

Looking for a teacher who enjoys working with children ages K-12th grades in a digital/art setting. Classes range on Mondays - Thursdays from 3:45-7pm available. POSITION SUMMARY:

Candidate must provide supervision and if necessary lifesaving skills for users of the pool as outlined under the standards of the YMCA.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of individuals using the pool and aquatic facility by supervising/ guarding the pool during lap, open and swim lesson programs.
  • Administer life saving skills if required.
  • Actively participate in obtaining further water safety certifications.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and act in a professional manner at all times this includes working with the public and arriving 10 minutes before the start of your shift.
  • Attend all in-service training and staff meeting as scheduled by the Aquatic Director.
  • Ensure participants adhere to all YMCA aquatic guidelines and procedures.

Requirements:

Candidate must have First Aid, CPR, and Lifeguard Certification and have physical mobility to properly use aquatic equipment to rescue a 200 lb. person. Candidate must be mentally alert to dangerous situations in order to assure the safety of all swimmers.

  • Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.

Water Fitness Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • 1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
  • 2. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • 3. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • 4. Keeps accurate class attendance records.
  • 5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

Qualifications:

  • 1. Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification such as AEA (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in aquatic group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
  • 2. Certification in areas of expertise.
  • 3. At least one year of experience teaching aquatic group wellness classes preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • 1. Ability to conduct classes and activities.
  • 2. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position while in swim attire; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
