Always There For Me

I started going to my local YMCA when I was in fourth grade. My parents couldn’t afford the membership, but the Y never turned anyone away and offered us financial assistance so we could be members. We played basketball and swam there almost every day. I had my first job at the Y when I was a senior in high school. That was 17 years ago, and I have worked for a YMCA ever since. Now my own kids are part of the Y afterschool care programs and Y camps. The Y has always been there for me in tough times, and provided a safe place for my children to grow and learn. It will always have a special place in my heart.
