Max Fabian turned 102 years old on March 9th. To save you the arithmetic, Max was born in 1909 and he has truly seen the American Century, from watching Red Grange play for the Bears in 1924 to seeing Muhammad Ali box in the Golden Gloves tournament around 1960. During World War II he served with the US Army in the Philippine Islands.
To all of us at the Y, Max is an inspiration. Five days a week, Max drives from his home in Niles to the Y for a work out. Max is the prime user in the Y’s “Time Tunnel”, a small gym filled with the exercise equipment from decades gone by, medicine balls, pulley weights and speed bags. He is consistent and determined and leads us all by his example, and he deserves a facility that match him in class.
He has continued to work part-time at A-Z Industries in Northbrook. Max is the most senior member of the Y and he is among the most active. We are very proud to have him in our neighborhood and look forward to having him cut the ribbon on our renovated facilities.
