Flag Football

2019 Fall Session
This is an instructional program to learn the basics of football including passing, positions and running plays. Teamwork and good sportsmanship will be stressed.

Grades 3-8

Students will work on the basics of tumbling needed for cheerleading or gymnastics. Skills including, but not limited to, cartwheels, roundoffs, walkovers, back handsprings, and front handsprings will be taught in a progressive manner. Made possible by the Ruth Schultz Bright Days Fund.

Grades 2-8

This co-ed program focuses on learning and improving skills such as passing, setting, and serving. Since our volleyball program is divided into age groups, it’s great for beginners as well as an excellent off-season training class for competitive players.

Open Volleyball

Grades 6-8

If you’re in junior high and you play volleyball or want to learn, join us for Friday evening fun every week from 7:30–9:30 pm! Depending on the turnout, the games may range from 2v2 to 6v6 round robin.

NSYMCA Youth Basketball League

Grades K-8th

November 10 - March 3 2019

NSYMCA Developmental Basketball League The Y believes that character development, focusing on the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, is an essential element of our sports programs. Participants will receive help in developing their skills through quality instruction, game experience and player development.

Our league is designed for boys and girls to learn the fundamentals of basketball, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and rules of the game. Players will be placed on teams, formed after 2 weeks of evaluations. Practices will develop and build skills and are held once per week for 1 hour. Practices are Tuesdays 5:00-6:00 pm for K-2 grades and 4:00-5:00 pm for 3rd-6th grades. All participants will receive a jersey included in the class fee.

Basketball Skills Training

Grades K-8:
Focuses on strengthening basic basketball skills through ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, defense, transition play, and positions. This program emphasizes teamwork, good sportsmanship, and hard work, and is a great way to get your skills to the next level.

Basic dribbling, passing, and shooting skills will be introduced.

1st - 2nd Grade:
Emphasis will be on improving basic skills and implementing proper technique.

3rd - 8th Grade:
More advanced basketball skills will be taught, as well as the importance of developing confidence and game knowledge.

Sports Of All Sorts

Each week we will play a different sport and have fun while staying active after school. We will play our favorite sports camp and gym class games such as dodgeball, gaga, floor hockey, kickball, bowling, basketball, and so much more. This is a non-competitive class that focuses on physical activity while improving individual skills.

Off-Season Sports & Conditioning

11 Years and up
Small group offseason sports conditioning in groups of 3-8 athletes. Athletes will work on improving strength, speed, endurance, coordination, and flexibility..

Sports and Gymnastics

Ages 3- 5 years

Burn some energy and have fun! The first part of class will be gymnastics with tumbling, trampoline, and bar work. The next part will feature various sports such as basketball, soccer and t-ball. We emphasize having fun in a non-competitive environment while learning how to play as a team and improving individual sports and gymnastics skills.

Ages 3- 5 years
