Family

The North Suburban YMCA is a family friendly organization designed to enhance the time children and parents spend together. From Family Gym or Family Swim time, to special events throughout the year, the North Suburban YMCA encourages families to interact and play together at the YMCA.

One program, which allows parents and children to interact and play, is:

  • Y Adventure Guides – Kindergarten through grade 4
  • Father/Son Expedition Circles for Dads and their sons
  • Father/Daughter Expedition Circles for Dads and their daughters

We realize that there are times in which families may need to be apart for work or other obligations. That is why the North Suburban YMCA offers Winter, Spring, Extreme Days off and Summer Camp programs which allow working parents to place their children in a loving and caring environment. We offer:

  • Winter Camp
  • Spring Camp
  • Extreme Days off
  • Summer Camp

KidZone

The North Suburban YMCA offers an in-house child-care service. This service is available to members and guests and provides a safe, comfortable environment for children 6 months to 10 years of age, while their families and caregivers attend NSYMCA programs and activities. In order to enjoy the privilege of KidZone, a designated parent or adult caregiver must remain in the building at all times.

KidZone is complimentary to all North Suburban YMCA members. A nominal fee is charged for non-members or guests using our facility.

Lookup up the KidZone Guidelines pamphlet describing the hours, rates and procedures for this fun-filled area.

KidZone Guidelines

Children are not required to be toilet-trained to use KidZone. However, the KidZone staff is not responsible for changing diapers. Parents will be paged if their child exhibits signs of being uncomfortable.

Plastic bottles and cups with lids may be brought from home (please label these items). Staff will feed your baby as needed.

Our facility is equipped with toys and activities and is supervised by caring staff. Please do not bring toys from home.

As a courtesy to others, please do not use KidZone if your child is not feeling well. In an effort to keep all children healthy, any child presenting an oral temperature of 100 degrees or more, a rash, severe diarrhea, actively running nose, or hacking cough or who is vomiting should be kept home until s/he is symptom free for 24 hours or more. Children exhibiting symptoms of ill health will not be admitted.

Should a child’s behavior be deemed inappropriate or if a child cries excessively, parents will be asked to make alternate arrangements.

KidZone is provided as a service to our members and program participants. In order to use KidZone, a designated parent or adult caregiver must remain in the building at all times. Any parent or designated caregiver found leaving the YMCA building while their child is in the care of KidZone will no longer be allowed to use the services of KidZone.
