Early Childhood Programs
An Adventure in Learning
At the North Suburban YMCA your children can participate in quality, well organized activities that will help them discover new types of fun, explore their imaginations and socialize with other children.
Toddler Classes [+/-]
Offers a variety of activities that will engage your child in fun and help develop social skills.
Playtime Fun (Ages 15–23 months)
Must be with parent or caregiver.
This class will include songs, creative movement and gross motor activities, along with free time to encourage social interaction.
Creative Play (Ages 2 and 3 years old)
Without parent or caregiver. This first time experience away from parent in a classroom setting includes free choice of activities and a variety of weekly themed art projects.
We end with songs and story time.
DISCOVER Building Blocks [+/-]
For children 2 and 3
years of age. Must have Creative Play class prior to registration for this class.
We transition your child from class to class so they can enjoy the complete block of developmentally appropriate classes for the length of the program. Pick your own blocks of time. Blocks are designed to build on one another to form a complete day if desired. Blocks are part of a cohesive unit but are also able to stand alone.
Children are not required to be toilet trained to attend our programs, however, staff is not responsible for changing diapers.
Discovering Books
We will introduce the weekly theme with songs, fingerplays, stories, and art projects.
Discovering ABC's and 123's
A different letter or number will be covered each week.
Lunch
Enjoy some outside play time and eat with friends with a lunch brought from home.
Discovering
We will learn to make kid-friendly food projects with an introduction to kitchen safety.
EXPLORING Building Blocks [+/-]
For children 4 and 5 years of age. Blocks are designed to build on one another to form a complete day if desired.
Pick your own blocks of time. Blocks are designed to build on one another to form a complete day if desired. Blocks are part of a cohesive unit but are also able to stand alone. For example, you are able to sign up for Block "A" everyday and
nothing would be repeated.
Exploring Books
We will introduce the weekly theme with
songs, fingerplays, stories and art projects.
Exploring Letters
We will learn our letters and their sounds and start to put it all together!
Lunch
Bridge your blocks with some outside
play time and eat with friends with a lunch brought from home.
Exploring Cooking
We will learn to make kid-friendly recipes
with an emphasis on kitchen safety.
Exploring Math
Use different manipulatives and hands-on learning to explore different pre-math and math skills.
Exploring Science
We will learn to think and explore like scientists.
Lunch Bunch
For 2-5 year olds.
Outside play time and eating with friends with a lunch brought from home.
