ScholarshipsTo apply for financial assistance, applicants must presently reside in our service area year round and have been doing so for at least six months prior in order to be eligible. Interested candidates must complete a scholarship application available at our Service Desk. Information can also be mailed by contacting the Scholarship director. Upon receipt of the required information, the file will be reviewed and a recommendation made within three to four weeks. Any family interested in assistance must send further information to the Scholarship Director prior to registering. Registering in advance prior to filling out scholarship information does not qualify an individual for scholarship assistance. The required forms must be on file for a determination to be made. Families interested in day care assistance must first apply to the Illinois Department of Human Services. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Please plan ahead as limited openings are available. The Scholarship Assistance Program is set up as a cooperative effort. The recipient pays a percentage of membership and/or program fees and the balance is paid through charitable contributions received from corporations and individual donors. The North Suburban YMCA and its volunteer Board of Directors strive to have scholarship funds available to achieve its goal of providing services to those needing financial assistance. Funds are received from businesses and individuals through solicitations of charitable contributions.
