North Suburban YMCA

Volunteerism

The North Suburban YMCA needs volunteers to be successful. Volunteers keep us going, make us strong. Volunteer opportunities are always available in various areas of the Y. Whether you're interested in coaching, counseling or office help, we're always looking for a helping hand.

Volunteers are involved in many aspects of operations. Here are some ways you can participate:

  • Join a committee – Apply your communication, finance, or planning skills.
  • Campaign for Strong Kids – Raise funds so that every kid in our community can learn to swim or to attend summer camp.
  • Help with early childhood programs – Share your experience and talents with children and their parents.
  • Coach or referee in a sports league – Promote values of good health and sportsmanship.

Our Board of Directors leads committees in the areas of, Fundraising, Operations, PR and Marketing, and even Landscaping. If you would like to give of your talents to help the NSYMCA, please contact our YMCA Director at (847) 272-7250.

Thank you to our Volunteers of the Year Award Winners!

Brian Eaton - Program Volunteer of the Year Award

Brian has volunteered as a coach with our youth baseball program in Buffalo Grove for more than 6 years. He is an excellent coach and a strong advocate for the YMCA youth sports programs.

Charlie Parker - "Above and Beyond" Volunteer Award

Charlie saw the need to have the lockers painted in the men's locker room and understood that our current budget can't support the $8,000 it would take to have them electrostatically painted. Charlie has volunteered many hours over the past month to paint the lockers by hand himself.

Frank Meegan - Volunteer Leadership Award

Frank chaired the 2005 and 2006 Strong Kids Campaigns, which raised over $150,000. Frank is currently the co-chair of the North Suburban YMCA Capital Campaign, and has dedicated many hours to planning, meeting, calling and promoting this campaign.
